Sonnen: TUF is tougher than the Olympic games!

Chael Sonnen already started with promiting the new season of The Ultimate Fighter where his opposing coach will be Jon Jones.

Former challenger in the middleweight division and obviously future light heavyweight Chael Sonnen decided to use his marketing abilities and promote next season of The Ultimate Fighter, to attract as many people to follow him and Jones.

- "This isn't a four-man tournament that gets spread over the course of a year. This is a 32-man tournament that will take place over five and a half weeks and to be aired over 10 of the most successful ratings FX has ever seen. This is a tournament that is tougher than the Olympic games, it's tougher than the NFL playoffs, it's tougher than any tournament in sports and that storyline constantly gets missed. This is no more reality TV than the NFL playoffs or the Olympics were. It's real and it's on TV. The bottom line is, this is a tournament. This is a tournament so tough that great fighters like Josh Koscheck, Gray Maynard, Stephan Bonnar and Chris Leben couldn't even win it. It's so tough, that world champions Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans came through it."

Sonnen: Jones will teach fighters to be brats

Former middleweight challenger, Chael Sonnen, in the spring of next year will finally be found in the octagon with Jon Jones and now we'll follow a well-known scenario - trash talk to end.

Chael Sonnen again succeed, again he reached his goal, and got the match he wants. Jon Jones apparently was not overly interested in a duel with former middleweight, but aware that the refusal to fight would be extremely fatal to his popularity, he said 'yes' to Dana White and accepted to be the opposing coach in The Ultimate Fighter 17.

American Gangster has not waited too long, but moving slowly with its well-known verbal attacks and Jones certainly expects the hardest six months of my life. "He should not have been pressured into this. I did everything I could to warn this guy. I held up a big (sign) that said, 'Hey Jon, I'm coming to the division, Which puts you on notice to pack up your bags and get out of it. 'He was talking about going to heavyweight, and he should have done it. The bottom line is, he waited too long, and now the man has arrived. "

- "I will be taking 50 percent of that talent and teaching them how to fight. The other half is going to be taught how to be selfish brats and Entitled by Jones. The good news for that 50 percent is that when the whole thing is over , I'm sure Coach Jones will throw a hell of an after party. "

Jones and Sonnen coaches in next TUF

During the first part of next year we will have a big clash between current champion in light heavyweight division Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen. Someone has received confirmation that two of them will be opposing coaches in TUF.

Jon Jones recently declined to fight against Chael Sonnen, explaining apologetically that he doesn't have enought time to prepare becouse Sonnen had to replace injured Dan Henderson. Becouse of it whole UFC 151 was canceled.

Sonnen was relentless, a few days ago on Twitter he poked Jones, and it seems that all of this was a prelude to what awaits us in the coming months. LA Times today received confirmation that Jones and Sonnen will be new coaches in the new season of The Ultimate Fighter.

This would mean that the two of them, as it is common, will meet in the final of the season and will face in the Octagon. "It will be a good season. Jones accepted the match because he knows that is what fans want," said Dana White, who was certainly enthusiastic because there is no doubt that the match will bring millions of dollars to UFC and we will enjoy a new interesting skirmishes.

Aforementioned season finale of TUF is supposed to take place in April 2013th. Sonnen, meanwhile, will fight against Forrest Griffin on 29th December in Las Vegas.

Sonnen is next for Jones?

After another championship title defense many MMA fans have wondered who will be the next opponent in title fight with Jones.

On pressconferention after the fight Dana White has hinted that it could be Chael Sonnen, MMA Junkie reports:

- "I can tell you right now, I think they both want that fight. I think there are other fights that make more sense. (But) people to want to see it. If enough people want to see it, I guess I 'd have to make it. "

It is uncertain who will be the next Jonses opponent because a lot of fighters are in the game for an title fight. It could be injured Henderson that was replaced by Vitor Belfort, Machida who was announced as next for Jones after impressive win over Bader in his last fight , Shogun who also won in his last fight, and of course always mentioned Chael Sonnen.

Dana White is already aware that if Chael wins in his next fight against Griffin, will definitely call out champion Jon Jones.

- "He's going to call out Jon Jones, no doubt, (if he beats Griffin). Everybody talks about him talking his way into fights," White said. "But you know that guy's showing up to fight and win. That's why I do not really have reservations about it. When I called Jon and I thought he was going to take that fight - Chael will fight anybody. That's one of the things I respect about him. "

Now we can do nothing else but wait for Sonnen's fight and hope there will be no problems against Griffin.

Henderson: Sonnen did not know about my injury!

Jones' coach accused Chael Sonnen for planned attack on Jon Jones and preparation for the match at least ten days because he knew about the injury of Dan Henderson, but Dan denied it all.

Jon Jones in recent days is under immense fire of MMA fans for his decision on the recommendation of coach Greg Jackson to refuse match against Chael Sonnen, after it became apparent that Dan Henderson will not be able to fight due to a serious injury.

To distract everyone from Jones, one of his coaches accused Sonnen to secreat prepairing for the match against Jones at least ten days because he knew about Hendovu injury, but the former champion of Strikeforce and Pride denied everything.

- "Chael didn’t know anything about it," he said. "He had definitely not been training at all. My guys told me that Greg Jackson said in an interview that Chael was down training with me and getting ready for the fight and knew I was hurt. It was nothing like that at all.. He wasn’t even down here. I asked him if he wanted to come down and help me train a couple months ago, but he didn’t come down."

- "Ultimately it was his decision not to take a fight with Chael," he said. "I don't think it’s unfair that he’s been blasted like that. All I know is, that’s not the decision I would’ve made. Obviously he has his own reasons. I can't think of any reason why I wouldn't take a fight like that. Other than being injured, if I’m healthy, in shape and ready to fight that day, it doesn't matter who they want me to fight. I'll fight, especially if I’m champ."

- "I didn’t think it was the smartest move at all for Chael to step up," he said. "Being out of shape, for Chael to take Jon Jones down would require probably a little more energy than to bounce around the cage and exchange punches with him. So I think he definitely would’ve needed a little bit more gas than sitting on the couch for six weeks would give him."

Sonnen declared himself the champion in the light heavyweight

Chael Sonnen continues to be hilariously funny. The situation about Jon Jones and cancellations of UFC 151 only further fed the self-proclaimed champion in light heavyweight.

America is in an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report commented on one of the craziest days in the UFC's history.

- "When I decided to go after the light heavyweight championship, I knew that I'd win it like I always do. I just didn't know it would be by forfeit. But I do stand before you today the light heavyweight champion."

- "I'm in the same position today as I was yesterday. The fight's going to happen sooner or later. It's not like I'm not going to beat this guy up. It's just a matter of when. My biggest concern isn't with the fight or myself at all. My biggest concern is with Dan Henderson and his health. I have a personal relationship with him. I know his kids and how much he loves playing with them, so I just hate to see the guy's health in any kind of jeopardy."

- "I really think quite highly of Greg Jackson. You have to understand his opinion and influence on Jon is earned. Jon respects him. He earned that. I understand there are repercussions for Coach Jackson, but that's what he's hired to do. He's not an employee of the UFC. He's a coach and he gave the advice to his athlete—I respect that. I think we should respect that he spoke his mind to his athlete that trusts him."

- "I don't know the mindset or who's around (Jones). I only know who's around me. Dan Henderson, Matt Lindland, Randy Couture. These are the guys who molded me not just physically, but mentally. They would fight anybody, any time, anywhere. Some people mean it when they say that.
"I'm from that same mold. I'd never disrespect those guys that gave so much to me by being the first one from our group to back down. And I never say that to sound like a tough guy. I say that because I think it's really important that you're never a bully in this sport. I hate them so much.

- "I have this stigma of being a trash talker, but my only goal was to bring these bullies down. I never picked on anybody who wasn't No. 1 in the world. When I went after Wanderlei Silva, he had an aura around him that he couldn't be beat. When I went after Anderson (Silva), when I went after Paulo Filho, the Nogueira brothers, (Lyoto) Machida. If they were in my cross hairs, they were a No. 1 guy that everyone else was sidestepping.

- "They are all a bunch of punks and bullies and I will never be one. The only litmus test I have for myself—am I willing to fight anybody? When the day comes that I won't fight somebody, I won't fight anybody. If there is someone out there that makes me go 'I'm not fighting him,' then I'm not going to fight anyone anymore.

- "That's what bullies do. Bullies pick and choose who they get in fights with based on who they think they can beat. I will never, ever do that. When the day comes that I back down, I will quit this sport."

- "This was his biggest opportunity. There's no question I could beat Jon Jones. Jon Jones can beat me too. But I can beat him. If you ever wanted to stack the deck in his favor, you'd have done it on September 1. You'd have called me out of the blue, switched weight classes on me, put me on a plane to do a press tour, put me everywhere in the world except in the practice room. That was the opportunity he had. I could have beaten him, but he could have beaten me too.

- "The next time we meet up, when I've had a camp and my coaches around me, that's not going to be the case. It's really important to win these fights, and the world saw me lose a fight. I fell down. I'm not going to fall down again."

- "Jon Jones is a delusional brat. He talks of being a businessman?! What?! What risks did he take? What capital did he raise? Where exactly is his office located? How many people does he employ? Hey JJ, put me on the phone with your secretary... Oh wait, what?"

Sonnen has made it clear that he will not withdraw from this match. He still wants to fight with Jones.

Dan Henderson injured! Whole UFC 151 canceled!

Its once again proved to be correct in the MMA world when it comes to rumors, and the "darkest" suspicions have realized. But if you think it can not be worse than the injury of Henderson, you were wrong. Full UFC 151 was canceled, and the reasons are partly Dan snapping knee ligament (MCL), and Jones's rejection of the first alternative.

“This is the lowest point in my eleven-year career as the UFC President. For the first time in 11 years, we are going to cancel an event. UFC 151 is being canceled. Henderson tore his MCL and he tried to train on it. There was nothing we could do to save the fight.”

Henderson was forced to cancel the match, and Sonnen took on the challenge 8 days ahead of a potential meeting. "He really wanted to do it," said White, who had planned to announce the match in this appearance - but Jones refused.

White revealed that Greg Jackson told to Jones that accepting the match with Sonnen would be the biggest mistake of his career.

“ Greg Jackson is a weirdo! Greg Jackson told Jon Jones that taking a fight against Chael Sonnen on eight days notice would be the biggest mistake of his fighting career and he shouldn’t take the fight. We put a lot of money into this card. We have TV ads, we have billboards, but this is a selfish decision and disgusting decision by Jones…I am glad Jones is rich, but other guys on the card were depending on this fight to happen to feed their families.”

White added that him and Lorenzo Fertitta are disgusted with Jones, and called Sonnen a lunatic for accepting the match no matter when and where.

“As much as as he’s won, and all the things that he’s accomplished in a short amount of time, he’s been a champion that hasn’t been very popular. I don’t think this is going to do wonders for his popularity. Me and Lorenzo are disgusted. I don’t know why a guy who was a world champion and considered by many to be the pound-for-pound best wouldn’t fight anybody. It’s baffling to me. I’ve never seen it before. Being a fight promoter, and being in the business that we’re in, you can’t make somebody fight. I can’t make you fight. You’re either a fighter, or you’re not. This is what we all do for a living. I have a building here in Las Vegas that 250 people have been busting their ass, working hard, to promote this fight. Not just for Jon Jones, but for everyone on this card. You know what? Good for you Jon Jones. You’re rich and you’ve got some money, and you don’t need to take this fight. But there’s a bunch of guys on the undercard that this is how they feed their family, and this is how they make a living. And the UFC has spent [expletive] of money to promote this fight. I can’t make you fight, but it’s probably not a good idea to not do it.”

Sonnen: Henderson is the greatest of all time and is perfect to beat Jones!

Chael Sonnen is convinced that Dan Henderson is ideal fighter who could beat Jon Jones next month.

Light heavyweight fighters in the UFC now almost regret that Chael Sonnen failed to win a championship belt in the middleweight division. Among these almost certainly belongs Jon Jones, who in recent days has more to deal with Sonnen's assaults than the finishing of his preparations for the upcoming match against Dan Henderson at UFC 151.

Many consider Jones a huge favorite in the match, which was scheduled for the first September, but Sonnen considers that Handerson is perfect for beating the current light-heawyweight champion.

- "I believe in 'Hendo' - and so should you," Sonnen said. "If you look at Jon Jones and think of a man who can beat him, you would think of someone with great KO power, the best chin in the sport because - with his reach - Jones is going to hit you, great wrestling and a relentlessly aggressive style. That man already exists - and his name is Dan Henderson."

- "Jones is a talented kid, but he's taking on a man, and I'd bet on the man any day of the week," Sonnen said. "Dan beat the 170-pound champion in Carlos Newton, he's won the Pride 183-pound title, the Pride 205-pound title, the Strikeforce 205-pound title, and he's won the two great tournaments in our sport: the UFC tournament back in the day and the Pride Grand Prix. All in all, he's beaten 11 world champions in his career. The man is the best of all-time. That is who Jon Jones is facing."

Sonnen doing his game with words on Jones

It did not take a lot to former middleweight Chael Sonnen to throw his hook on another victim, this time champion of light-heawyweight division Jon Jones. But it seems that Jon Jones just couldn't stay calm and listen in the silent and soon he responded to Sonnen via Twitter, calling him a coward and cheater.

Jones threatened by Sonnen

Two wasted opportunities for the title in the middleweight division  forced Chael Sonnen to move to LHW division and attempt to grabs so valuable belt. But the problem is that there are is impressive Jon Jones.

However, this did not stop to Sonnen even before he had done the first fight in the category up to 205 pounds, to point his poisonous arrows to a champion just a few days before his new defense of the title and the fight against legendary Dan Handerson.

"I don't think there's gonna be much left of [Jones] when Dan Henderson gets done with him,” Sonnen said. “If there's anything left of him, I'd be happy to play cleanup."

But he feels that he is leaving the toughest division in the UFC.

"A change is always nice. You do the same thing over and over, you're always looking for change. 185 is the toughest weight class out there. We sent our champion (Silva) up to face their [former] champion, Forrest Griffin (in 2009). It lasted 93 seconds. There's no debate to what the toughest weight class is. They used to have a karate guy (Lyoto Machida) that was champion at that weight."

Griffin and Sonnen rematch scheduled for the end of the year

Former double UFC middleweight challenger, Chael Sonnen, on TV show UFC Tonight announced that he is moving to light-heawyweight division to face the former UFC champion Forrest Griffin. Duel is announced on December 2012. at UFC 155.

- "A number of years ago, I fought with a guy who turned out to become a very good friend of mine, and I lost the match," Sonnen said. "Since becoming friends and competitors with him, I've also become a fan. I watched him win the world championship. I watched him etch his name in stone as a guaranteed future Hall of Famer. … He's the one guy Jon Jones hasn't fought. He's beat two world champions in his last three outings.

- "I get very frustrated that Forrest's name is left out of the conversation. This is a guy who's beat everybody, and he's never been in the talks to fight Jon Jones. He's coming off a fight with Tito Ortiz, one of the most decorated light heavyweights of all time – a Hall of Famer. They go out and have a 'Fight of the Night,' an awesome performance, and still, he gets overlooked."

Those who are more familiar with MMA history will remember their first match which played on the IFC Global Domination tournament in 2003rd. Griffin managed to finish Sonnen with the triangle choking at start of a tournament, that whole one evening tournament later won Renato "Babalu" Sobral.

Obviously Sonnen decided to pay some old debts from the past before him and Griffin retire. That the news is totally true confirmed the UFC leader Dana White.

Sonnen and Evans predictions and staredown

Rashad Evans has expressed a desire to move into the middleweight category after losing the title fight against champion Jon Jones.

Rashad Evans and Chael Sonnen have met at FUEL TV to give their opinions for the upcoming fights at FOX and they did a staredown as the announcement of their potential upcoming fight.

Both fighters are considered as second best in their categories after champions Anderson Silva and Jon Jones so this fight could be very interesting because of that fact and the fact that they are both excellent wrestlers.

They also gave opinions for the winners of the two main fights of UFC on FOX. Evans went with Machida and Shogun while Sonnen chose the opposite, Bader and Vera which Evans already expected.

Also Evans put the picture of their staredown on Sonnen's twitter and wrote " let's get it! ".

Now we can only hope that this fight will be realized because it would be another great deal for the UFC and a great treat for fans of MMA.

It's official: nobody has made such a profit as Anderson and Sonnen!

Although the approximate information was released a few hours immediately after the fantastic UFC 148, now athletic commission confirmed the great numbers of the great event.

Rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen took place nearly a month, according Dana White statement, was one of the greatest matches in UFC history, if not the greatest in his opinion. Immediately after the really fantastic UFC 148,  a number of seven million dollars was announced, and these were made from ticket sales.

That number this week was formally approved by the Athletic Commission, which publishes such informations. To be more precise, for a show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena 13 606 tickets were sold, 1498 of them were given, and the empty places left in the hall were 64!

It would be interesting to know exactly how many PPV's were sold in the U.S., but this information still falls under the trade secrets of UFC.

Sonnen moving to light-heavyweight ?

After another unsuccessful appearances in the fight for the championship, Chael Sonnen was forced to make important business decisions. Although popular fighter does not know what will be his next career move, he is fully confident that the plan was not to appeal on a result.

"Well first off I would never appeal a loss. The referee's decision is final. Those are the rules I agreed to before the event. I agreed to play by those rules are. But no I would not appeal it. The knee hit me in the face and yes you can't hit the knee to the face, but it is the referee's call and there is no replay. I don't want that to change. I have done things in the octagon at spare of the moment also. The referee didn't say anything, so it's fair game. The knee landed where the knee landed, the result is the same and I don't dispute the results."

Ahead of both of their fights, Chael was the principal when it came to verbal arguments. Nevertheless, Sonnen stresses that in any statement made he wanted no evil intent.

- "Listen, you know that was very nice what he said [inviting him to his family BBQ] but at the end of the day I never wished Silva a bad life. I shook his hand in the ring and I wish him a good life. If I had the chance to fight him again, I would definitely take it. I am appreciative of him and of the chance he gave me to fight him again and the first time. I was very good for Anderson, but Anderson was very good for me too."

When it comes to retirement, Sonnen will leave that decision to another person.

- "Give me a couple of weeks," Sonnen said. "I'm not trying to make any claim or put myself in any corner. There's some great guys at 185. and that's not what it's about, but traditionally and historically [changing weight classes] is a very good way to get a fresh start and kind of rejuvenate your career."

Sonnen: The better guy won tonight

Chael Sonnen has finally admitted that Anderson Silva is better and it seems that their mutual war is now a thing of the past.

Fighter from "the mean streets of West Linn, where people throw away a piece of paper on the floor," decided  that the vebalnog warfare with the great Brazilian fighter Anderson Silva is over,

Sonnen said that he will shake Anderson's hand, no matter how the fight ended, and it seems that he decided to go a step further and finally acknowledged to Anderson.

Sonnen's words after the fight:

- "Well, I'm going to get my aunt a lobster tail, I'm going to take a shower and I'm going to hopefully get a good night's sleep," Sonnen told MMAjunkie.com at the post-event news conference. "I thought it was very nice of him [to invite me to a barbecue]. It's very important when you lose a fight that you don't say things like, 'My opponent was better tonight.' The better guy wins every time. The better guy won tonight."

Hot at the weigh-in: Anderson hit Sonnen in the head

Official weigh-in of athletes who participate at UFC 148 is held, and that tonight will pierce between Anderson and Chael proves Anderson's shoulder blow to the Chael's head.

Almost ten thousand people watched the live weigh-in, and judging by their mood, it appears that Chael will have far greater support from the fans during the fight.

Current middleweight challenger Chael Sonnen in the open training session appeared to be over 205 pounds and had about 24 hours to drop 20 pounds. Many were worried whether it will succeed, but as one of his coaches said that there is no reason to worry, Sonnen came to weigh-ins with the 185 pounds.

The current champion Anderson was a little lighter, he had 184 pounds.

During the staredown there was some pushing, which eventually resulted in unsportsmanlike act after Anderson's shoulder hit the head of Chael, so president Dana White and the security guards had to intervene. The Anderson's move, in the audience hall, was accompanied by severe and whistles of disapproval.

Tito Ortiz had his last official weigh-in tonight and he appeared in a T-shirt with large lettering 'thanks UFC for everything'. Ortiz, like his opponent Forrest Griffin had 204 pouns.

Anderson and Chael finally met, it was tense

Brazilian Anderson Silva, who is pretty quiet and calm fighter, recently lost his patience and told everything he thinks about Chael Sonnen in a conference call.

The two have finally met face to face after some time and it was extremely tense. Anderson Silva was even ready to physically conflict during the staredown but he was prevented by Dana White and his associates.

Chael has been fairly steady, apparently expecting such a reaction from Anderson, and with his cold-blooded behavior got Anderson more upset. Sonnen has definitely won a psychological war before the match.

Reporters have asked Sonnen for a reaction after Anderson attacks during the call. - "You make a very bad mood that you know how close your funeral is, it was nice to see the real edition of Anderson Silva."

Anderson also said he stands behind what he said during a recent call. - "You'll see on Saturday night what I talked about. I have nothing else to say except that he is fucked up! "Brazilian was sharp.

One thing is certain, this is one of those matches that we will talk about for years!

Anderson Silva: Chael is a criminal, I will break his face, teeth, hands and feet

Big rematch comes into force in early July, before the collision between Anderson Silva and Chae Sonnen, there has beenheld an interesting conference call. The main issue were the stars of highly awaited spectacles.

Chael Sonnen: I do not play the characters. I became serious about this fight long ago. I train martial arts from my ninth year.

Dana White: Anderson Silva is a huge star. This is a match that fans across the world wait for. Anderson is the best MMA fighter ever. Fans do not come to listen what Chael talks. He may be deaf and dumb, what works in the Octagon is incredible.

Anderson Silva: Chael is a criminal. He was convicted and he doesn't deserve to be in the octagon. When it comes time to fight, I will break his face and all the teeth. I do not live in the past, the old stuff is for museums. The game is over, I'll beat him as nobody so far. Enough talking, I'll beat up him from the UFC. When I finish with him, he will never be willing to fight again.

Chael Sonnen: What happened to Anderson is that for the first time he found himself in a real fight. His skills are as an amateur, just amateurs fight with their hands folded. I have treated him as an amateur at our first meeting, I will do it this time. The stakes are high, and I do not think to play on points. I have two words for Anderson: medium rare.

Dana White: There is no doubt that the numbers will exceed a million. We expect the success as at UFC's 100th.

Tito Ortiz: Preparing for the match to life. I know all about Forrest. I do not think to spitt at my opponent, I came to fight. I am grateful to the leaders of the UFC for Hall of Fame.

Forrest Griffin: Our matches were exciting. Lately, things did not go in my favor and for me the goal is same - I do not want to lose twice in a row.

Anderson Silva: It does not matter where I fight, things  I'll do to Chael will change the image of free fights. I will break his teeth, hands and feet. Sonnen will not be able to leg out of the cage. I know he listens to this, the game is over. I'll make him swallow everything he said so far.He will regret for showing disrespect to the fighters. I'll beat him like his parents should do. I do not play it anymore. The first time he lost, but now he will need a plastic surgeon.

Dana White: Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson said everything, but this differs that normally Anderson is restrained. I have never heard such a story.
